Selling exclusivity comes at a price. White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch started streaming only on Netflix last month. We had a chance to take it in a few nights ago and I had to give it a shout. I’ve always thought very highly of the documentaries and docuseries that Netflix has put out over the years. White Hot, in particular, is another exemplary film that makes my monthly fee very month worth it. All the cool kids were wearing it. This documentary explores A&F’s pop culture reign in the late ’90s and early 2000s and how it thrived on exclusion.

I appreciate docs that are packed full of facts and information that we didn’t know before and that educate. I didn’t know that the former CEO, Mike Jeffries, was gay. I especially didn’t know he was one of those closeted self-hating gays. It was even more eye opening to discover they were so blatantly racist and white supremacist. I have a suggestion for Mike Jeffries, and the $27 million he left the company in retirement with, for another fashion company. I think he should make designer white hoods for the KKK.
