Actor and consummate cutie Connor Jessup recently came out of the closet via his Instagram and if you listen closely you can hear little angels singing. Connor is probably best known for his role as Taylor Blaine on ABC’s American Crime (2016-2017). For us gay film lovers we know him as Oscar Madly in Closet Monster (2015). I also liked him as Ben Mason in four season of TNT’s Falling Skies (2011-2015).
Here is an excerpt from his Instagram post on June 24th. He turned 25 that same day in fact:
I knew I was gay when I was thirteen, but I hid it for years,” he began. “I’m a white, cis man from an upper-middle class liberal family. Acceptance was never a question. But still, suspended in all this privilege, I balked.Connor W Jessup on Instagram
I just want to give Connor (and his family) a great big virtual high five. They get kudos for providing a home environment that wasn’t a barrier to Connor being who was. I give Connor credit for owning his journey and taking into account his obligation to other gays to use his celebrity to make the world a better and safe place. There is no activism or marching or donation that does more good for the gay community everywhere than coming out of the closet and living your life in the light of day.
