DIY Candy Cane Vodka

Last Christmas, I came across a delicious Smirmoff Candy Cane Vodka. Not only did it go perfectly with Cola based drinks, but it goes nicely in anything coffee or chocolate, be it for a spiked iced coffee, a chocolate based martini, or some hot chocolate. When I bought the bottle, of course it was a little pricey, but at the time, it was worth it. But, the taste was so great that it just wouldn’t be ideal to keep buying candy cane vodka over and over. Making candy cane vodka is actually very simple.

You simply break or crush candy canes, put them in a container (e.g. mason jar), and mix with whatever economical vodka you want. The candy canes will dissolve in the vodka, which is much faster if the candy canes are broken down; shaking or mixing the container speeds up the process even further. In my opinion, I would recommend 1 candy cane per shot of vodka; anymore would be too overpowering and syrupy. Even at half strength (1 candy cane per 2 shots) I still thought the concoction tasted great, if you felt the need to tone down the sugar/calories.
