At least 20 million adults in the US identify as LGBTQ+, according to the HRC. This total figure is 8% of the total population; though, that number may still underestimate the entirety of the LGBTQ+ population, especially since only adults are in the figure. Also, those that specifically identify as gay and lesbian represent 3% of the total population, with 4% for bisexuals, and almost 1% for transgender people.
