Kirkland 12 Year Aged Rum Review

Costco has a white rum problem, at least to me. The only white rum sold there is Bacardi; they lack their own brand, while Sam’s Club has their own (and it’s delicious) while Walmart obviously gives you more selection (Captain Morgan’s is pretty decent, with more budget friendly options like Admiral Nelson and Caliber being at least reliable). I’m hating on Bacardi’s white rum because to me, it has a crude oil taste. While Kirland may not have a white rum to offer, they have an excellent aged rum, which is inherently dark in color from the aging process.

It’s not exactly as cheap as white rums, but a 750 mL bottle runs a bit over $20, not bad for a 12 year old Panama rum that’s been further matured in port wine casks. By itself, the rum is obviously very smooth, with a buttery molasses taste to it. Paired dirk Coke Zero, it’s in a league of its own vs. ordinary white rum & Coke. There’s additional aged rums as well: 15 years and XO. So if you have a Costco membership or friends that do, give the fancy rums a run!
